The EnsembleImpact National Schools Tour (Womanz Work!, Asian Invasion, Power Plays) is back with a 50-minute bare bones programme of NZ Theatre that comes direct to your drama room or auditorium.
Performed in traverse (audience on the two long sides with a performance space of 9m by 5m preferred) by four professional actors, the show requires no lighting or sound set up. It is ideally suited to Drama students in years 10-13, to a maximum audience of 150 and has a 5-minute Q and A built into the programme. A FREE extension of the QnA for up to 15 minutes can be arranged at time of booking. Touring 9 May – 23 June.
Directed by Kerryn Palmer, OUTLIERS features 9 extracts from modern NZ plays that voice what it is like in the out-groups and in-groups of a normalising world. Focused on the perspective of the outlier, the show can open discussion about the labels we identify with and the ones we’re stuck with.
The Texts: Extracts include the closing monologue from Greg McGee’s Foreskin’s Lament, an extract from Purapurawhetū by Briar Grace-Smith and the fabulous ‘Beyoncé’ monologue from Queen by Sam Brooks (2016 Bruce Mason Playwrighting Award). List of all extracts.
The programme features two extracts from playwrights on the NZQA prescribed reading list: Greg McGee and Briar Grace-Smith.
