Young and Hungry presents the 2018 EnsembleImpact National Schools Tour
A COUNTRY OF TWO HALVES
The EnsembleImpact National Schools Tour (OUTLIERS, Power Plays, Asian Invasion) is back with a 50 minute bare bones programme of quality NZ theatre that comes direct to your drama room or auditorium.
The 2018 theme is A COUNTRY OF TWO HALVES, featuring key extracts from modern plays that help us understand how the other half lives – have and have-not, city and rural, privileged and un-empowered – this show can open discussion about the misunderstandings that keep us divided and what brings us together.
The programme will feature two playwrights and plays on the NZQA prescribed reading list. There will be an extract from Renee’s Wednesday to Come and one from Ka Shue by Linda Chanwai Earl. Also included is an extract from Miria George’s The Night Mechanics – a 2017 play about water rights within a small Maori community – “a truly fascinating piece of Kiwi theatre” (Ewen Coleman, DominionPost).
More extract will be announced shortly.
The show will be directed by Patrick Davies. The show is performed in traverse by four professional actors and requires no lighting or sound set-up. It is ideally suited to Drama students in years 10 to 13 and has a 5 minute Q&A built into the programme. An extension of the Q&A for up to 15 minutes can be arranged at the time of booking.
Touring second term – 15 May – 6 July, 2018
Your school’s booking includes FREE access to a digital filming of the work, interviews with the creative team and a downloadable study guide tailored to exam requirements.
